“Migrantes” follows two16-year-old Mill Valley student journalists across the border to find out for themselves what is really happening as Central American refugees seek asylum in America. They meet the Migrant Caravan up close in the refugee camp, witness angry Mexican nationals and watch as the camp is locked down to stem violent protests. They hear children afraid to be taken from their parents, meet frightened and frustrated migrants, as well as Mexican Trump supporters. Ethan Swope provides heart-breaking images and video. Filmmaker Ian Duncanson, who grew up in Mexico and is of half Nicaraguan descent, climbs the Tijuana border wall himself to get his own perspective in this 8 minute short film.
